New York City has adopted a zoning model for commercial waste and recycling collection that divides the City into 20 distinct Commercial Waste Zones (CWZs). \;
The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) will authorize only three (3) carting companies to service customers in each zone and only five (5) carting companies to service dumpsters &\; compactors citywide. By law\, ALL businesses will be required to enter a written service agreement with an authorized carting company from their respective zone.
The session will include:
- High-Level Program Introduction: What is the Commercial Waste Zones (CWZ) program and how does it impact all businesses across the 5 boroughs
- Important Contracting Guidelines: What requirements must all businesses and authorized haulers follow to maintain compliance with CWZ program rules
- Building-Specific Guidelines: How must single vs. multi-tenant buildings\, brokers\, property management companies\, and cleaning services approach CWZ contracting\, invoicing\, and payments \;
- How Businesses/Buildings Can Prepare: In preparation for future zone roll-outs\, what can businesses/buildings do to prepare and minimize disruptions in service
